Zoos are not needed it our technologically advanced lifestyle…

Don’t get me wrong I think it is a wonderful idea to educate kids on wild animals however zoos are not the way to accomplish this goal.

Today kids are walking around with smartphones where they can look up in two seconds how fast a cheetah can run, they do not need to go to a zoo to see what a kinkajou looks like. However zoos still exist to educate children when technology is a more superior source of education.

This is me with one of my personal favorites at the
zoo. However I would not trust her if she was in fact
wild. She is a grey wolf that has been domesticated
so much I trusted sleeping with her.

I’m sure most people have heard of programs such as “Plant Earth” or “Life” which I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn more about the animals that live on our amazing planet. By watching these programs people can learn more about wild animals then spending a whole week at a zoo. The animals in zoos are to somewhat domesticated, while the animals you watch on these programs are truly wild and by watching them in their natural habitat your kids and students will learn the    true way of life of these animals.

These animals are beautiful and majestic when it comes to a small little bush baby to a roaming lion, being submissive to humans takes all their dignity away. A research survey analyzed how people have a more negative outlook on animals after visiting zoos then before. People grow up fearing and therefore respecting these wild animals but after seeing them stuck in a zoo in inadequate sized enclosures; kids no longer fear or treat these animals with the respect they so rightfully deserve. This is a problem that parents raising their children need to be aware of and make an effort to stop this negative outlook.
